At the end of September, the updated Level restrictions were agreed and then published in the Official Boletin of the Canary Islands (BOC), particularly regarding capacities allowed in inside spaces, outdoor spaces, and at events, which were in place until October 31st 2021, but have now been extended to November 30th. Here is an overview of those that apply to both Level 1 and Level 2:
1). Capacities in general: The maximum capacity allowed in outdoor spaces is up to 100% of that established, and up to 80% indoors if the spacing between tables allows. These capacities apply to hospitality (bars/restaurants) and nightlife venues (clubs/discos) with the following conditions:
- Level 1: 12 people can meet and sit at tables indoors or outdoors, hospitality can close at 3am (if licence permits), and nightlife at 4am.
- Level 2: 8 people can meet and sit at tables indoors or outdoors, hospitality can close at 2am (if licence permits), and nightlife at 4am.
2). Public shows: cultural, recreational, leisure and leisure activities, including sports, that take place sporadically and in places other than the establishments used for the regular exercise of said activity, and where appropriate, those held in demountable or open-air facilities that are not considered mass events will be adjusted to the following regime:
- In those held in outdoor spaces, the maximum capacity allowed will be 100% if the public remains seated and does not consume food, and 90% if the public remains seated and consumes food. If the public remains standing, the maximum capacity will be 90% and no food or beverages may be consumed.
- In those that are held in closed spaces, the maximum capacity will be 80% and you will not be able to consume food or drinks, no standing public will be allowed.
3). Outdoor children's and youth camps will have a maximum capacity of 80% in outdoor spaces with a maximum of 150 participants including the monitors. In these activities carried out in closed spaces, the maximum capacity will be 60% with a maximum of 60 people including the monitors.
4). Sports and exercise: It is allowed to practice federated sports, regional or insular, outdoors or in closed spaces, and non-federated sports practice outdoors, ensuring the maintenance of the interpersonal distance of 2 metres and with mandatory use of the mask. The number of participants will be limited by the specific regulations of each sport. The public capacity will be 100% in open spaces and 80% in closed spaces.
5). Cultural activity that is not considered to be a mass event and takes place in closed cultural and artistic venues, and establishments such as theatres, cinemas, music auditoriums, cultural centres, libraries, concert halls, exhibition halls, museums, exhibition or conference rooms or other places of a similar nature whose ordinary activity is cultural, the maximum capacity allowed will be 80% of that established.
All regular health measures remain in place regarding masks (clients and staff), distancing, no smoking on premises (indoors or outdoors), ventilation, and hand-washing. These are national requirements and will be in place until the health pandemic is declared over.
