Further details have emerged about the bomb scare which forced the evacuation of a Jet2 aircraft at Tenerife South Airport yesterday morning (Friday).

The incident involved flight LS1536 from Tenerife South to London Stansted, which was scheduled to depart at 11:20am. However, before departure, a passenger reportedly stated that there was a bomb inside their luggage, immediately triggering airport security procedures.

Passengers were ordered off the aircraft while Guardia Civil officers carried out a full security check.

Officers inspected the plane and checked passengers' luggage to determine whether there was a genuine threat. No explosives or other suspicious devices were found.

The security operation kept the aircraft on the ground for more than two hours while the necessary checks were completed.

Once the aircraft and baggage had been cleared, passengers were allowed to re-board and the flight was given permission to continue to the UK.

Flight LS1536 eventually departed Tenerife South at 1:46pm, two hours and 26 minutes after its scheduled departure time, before continuing to London Stansted without further incident.

No confirmed further action against the passenger

As of Saturday morning, there has been no confirmed information from the authorities that the passenger responsible for the comment has been arrested, charged or fined.

There has also been no official confirmation of the passenger's nationality or the circumstances surrounding why the statement was made.

Jet2 has acknowledged that an incident involving a passenger took place, while the security operation itself was handled by Guardia Civil at Tenerife South Airport.
