The EMA approves third dose of Pfizer vaccine for the general population

Earlier today (Monday) the European Medicines Agency (EMA) authorized the administration of a third dose of the Pfizer vaccine for anyone over 18 years of age, as they claim that protection against Covid from the initial two jabs will start to decrease six months after inoculation.

The EMA said in a statement today: "Booster doses can be considered for the general population over 18 years of age, at least six months after the second dose, to increase the antibodies and subsequently protection against the virus.”

However, the EMA also recommends that state authorities take into account that so far there is only "limited" data on this issue at the moment, adding that “the risk of inflammatory heart diseases and other side effects after the extra dose are not yet known and are being analyzed.”

It won’t take long to get the necessary information as there is more data on Covid vaccines than any other in history after 6.3 billion doses have been administered in less than a year, and so as third doses are given more and more data will be collected.
