The calima, a dry, dusty haze blown over from the Sahara, will return to the Canary Islands today, Friday, mainly affecting the eastern islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Cloudy spells and sunny breaks will be the general trend, with the chance of some light showers in places. Temperatures will rise slightly, with highs of 24°C in Tenerife and the western islands, and 23°C in Gran Canaria and the eastern islands.
Moderate north-easterly winds are expected, with stronger gusts in the southeast and northwest of several islands later in the day. At sea, winds from the northeast (force 3–5) will bring moderate to rough seas, with a northerly swell of 1–2 metres.
