Over a hundred cars have been registered for the Clásica de Tenerife, the classic car rally that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, which is taking place on the 19th and 20th of this month on the roads of the Island. It is not only special because of its anniversary, but also because it was cancelled last year due to Covid.
The rally will kick off in style with cars coming from England, Belgium and other European countries, along with the best from the Canary Islands registered between 1930 and 1970. In total, 17 cars have already arrived from England, eight of which are already registered, and which have taken advantage of their stay to tour Tenerife and visit La Palma and witness the volcano.
For months, the Real Automóvil Club de Tenerife has been intensively preparing the rally, which will become one of the most outstanding in the European continent in its speciality. The Clásica de Tenerife will tour the island in two intense stages.
The first, during the afternoon of Friday 19th November, is 80 kilometres long around the metropolitan area of Santa Cruz, La Laguna, and various other stops in the north of the island. The second is on Saturday with 275 kilometres around the island, all of them at an imposed average speed of no more than 50 kilometres per hour.

The registrants will be divided into three categories, Tourism, Regularity and Tribute, these last modern cars (from 1980-2000) that precede the classics, being there to compare the before and after in the evolution of design and technology of the motor vehicle.
Various models of Porsche, Triumph, MG, Ferrari, BMW, Daimler, etc, are combined with some more exotic brands, such as Kougar and Bizzarrini, to name but two. Not only has the number of registered cars has exceeded expectations, but the quality has too. For example, there is a 1934 Aston Martin MKII and a 1956 Mercedes 300SL in the line-up.
The provisional list of registrants will be announced tomorrow, while the final one, together with the starting order, will be revealed on Monday the 15th. Scrutineering will take place on Thursday the 18th in the afternoon and in the morning of Friday the 19th, before the departure that same afternoon from the García Sanabria Park in the capital of Tenerife.
