A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Telde, Gran Canaria, on suspicion of selling drugs near a children’s park and a library.
National Police launched an investigation after receiving information about suspected street-level dealing in an area regularly used by children and young people.
Officers placed the area under surveillance and allegedly observed the suspect continuing to distribute drugs despite having previously been arrested for a similar offence.
The operation ended on 16th July, when police seized 50 heat-sealed plastic wraps containing a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine prepared for sale.
Officers also confiscated €65 in cash and a digital scale, which police said were consistent with the preparation and sale of illegal drugs.
During the surveillance operation, police reportedly intercepted another man who had allegedly bought drugs from the suspect moments earlier. The substance found in his possession was also seized.
The investigation was carried out by the drug squad of the Judicial Police Brigade at Telde Police Station as part of ongoing efforts to tackle street-level drug dealing in public areas.
The suspect was brought before the relevant judicial authorities and remains under investigation for an alleged public health offence.
