AEMET is forecasting mostly clear skies across the Canary Islands today, Thursday, although cloud is expected in the north of the mountainous islands. Calima (Saharan dust haze) will remain at higher altitudes, temperatures will see little change, and parts of Gran Canaria could exceed 34°C.

Moderate north-easterly winds are expected across the archipelago, becoming strong in inland areas of Lanzarote, the south of Jandía in Fuerteventura, and the south-east and north-west of the mountainous islands, where very strong gusts are possible. Light sea breezes are expected along the southern coasts of the larger islands.

Tenerife
Mostly sunny skies are expected, although cloudy intervals will affect the north coast, while the central summit areas are likely to become cloudier during the middle of the day. Calima will remain at higher levels.

Temperatures will see little change overall, although inland areas, particularly on the southern slopes, may become slightly warmer. Highs of 30°C to 32°C are expected in the southern midlands and low-lying southern areas.

Moderate north-easterly winds will strengthen in the southern metropolitan area and the south-east and north-west of the island, where very strong gusts are possible. Sea breezes are expected along the south-west coast.
General temperature range: Low of 23°C and a high of 30°C.

Gran Canaria
Mostly clear skies are forecast, with some cloud affecting the north coast. Temperatures will remain similar in the north but will rise slightly in the south, west and higher ground. Highs of 34°C or more are expected in the southern and western midlands and mountain areas, as well as parts of the south-east. Lower south-western areas could reach around 30°C.

Moderate north-easterly winds will be strong in the south-east and far west of the island, with occasional very strong gusts. Sea breezes are expected along the southern coast.
General temperature range: Low of 23°C and a high of 29°C.

Lanzarote
Cloudy intervals are expected in the north, clearing to mostly sunny skies during the day. Elsewhere, conditions will remain largely clear with calima at higher levels.

Temperatures will remain much the same, although highs of around 30°C are possible in the southern half of the island. Moderate north-easterly winds will strengthen in inland areas of the south, where very strong gusts are possible, particularly overnight.
General temperature range: Low of 22°C and a high of 29°C.

Fuerteventura
Mostly sunny skies are expected, although some cloud may develop along the west coast overnight. Calima will persist at higher altitudes. Temperatures will remain steady, with inland areas and the south-east coast reaching 30°C. Moderate north-easterly winds will become strong along the west coast and in southern Jandía, with very strong gusts possible.
General temperature range: Low of 21°C and a high of 28°C.
