The Canary Islands has registered t four deaths from coronavirus today, two in Tenerife, one in Gran Canaria and another in Lanzarote, raises the total number of fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic to 516. In addition, the islands have added 329 new infections, 138 in Gran Canaria and 121 in Lanzarote.
Gran Canaria and Tenerife have 83% of the 7,982 active cases between them, but in the next couple of days Gran Canaria will overtake Tenerife as the most infected island if current trends continue. Currently there are 3,485 active cases on the island of Tenerife, and 3,155 in Gran Canaria. Lanzarote now passes the thousand mark with 1,121.
So far 54,653 vaccines have been administered in the Canary Islands, which is 83.3% of all delivered, following Mondays shipment, and 6,434 people have had two doses and are heading towards maximum immunity against the virus.
