LATEST: Fire Under Control at Pallet Warehouse in Tenerife

Firefighters have successfully brought the large blaze, which broke out on Tuesday evening in a warehouse at the Valle de Güímar Industrial Estate, under control.

The fire, which led to a large-scale emergency response and the temporary closure of the TF-1 motorway, has now been stabilised, according to officials from the Tenerife Fire Consortium.

The fire began at approximately 7:00 p.m. in a commercial warehouse and produced a massive column of smoke visible from the southern motorway and throughout the Güímar Valley. The smoke posed serious visibility risks, leading the Guardia Civil and the Cabildo’s Roads Department to temporarily close the TF-1 for safety.

After working through the night, professional firefighters, volunteers, and members of the BRIFOR forest brigade have now largely stood down, with only two heavy urban fire engines (BUP) and a personnel relief vehicle from the Tenerife Fire Consortium remaining at the scene. Additionally, a nodriza water tanker unit (BUN) from BRIFOR is assisting in cooling operations.

Emergency crews have managed to open the structure to ventilate the smoke still lingering inside. Firefighters continue to carry out "refresher" tasks along the side of the building facing the ravine and are focusing intensively on extinguishing embers at the rear of the facility, where some residual heat remains, particularly in the area closest to the motorway.

Authorities are expected to continue monitoring the situation until all remaining hotspots are fully extinguished. Once the emergency operation concludes, technical assessments and a formal investigation into the cause of the fire will follow.
