In the last two days almost 1,000 people have been medically discharged from isolation for Covid, as the result of stricter regulations take effect in the two week cycle with most recoveries in Tenerife. Today the Ministry of Health has reported of 234 new cases in the islands and one death in Tenerife of a 92 year old male in hospital.
Gran Canaria continues to have the highest number of cases with 109 today, and now has almost 3,000 active cases on the island, only a 1,000 less than Tenerife who had 66 new cases today. Lanzarote now have 1,010 actives after 50 new positives were detected in the last 24 hours.
The Canary Islands received a delivery of 15,250 vaccines from Pfizer yesterday, with which the SCS vaccination plan continues. So far 54,300 doses have been administered in the Canary Islands, which are the region that has administered the most doses, with 105.5% of those delivered. These figures have been possible thanks to the use of the vials to obtain a sixth dose of vaccine as indicated in the Pfizer vaccine technical data sheet. Of the total number of vaccinated, 5,719 have already had their second dose.
Likewise, group 1 vaccination has one hundred percent coverage in the first dose, and 30,359 group 2 (front-line staff) have already been vaccinated. Given the production problems in Pfizer's laboratories, the Ministry of Health has reorganized its vaccination plan to give priority to the administration of second doses in the social and health sector, and to continue vaccinating group 2 and 3 personnel.
