A 37-year-old hiker was airlifted to safety yesterday morning (Saturday) following a fall in the Masca Ravine in Tenerife, as reported by the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
They received an alert for help at approximately 11:20am and dispatched a helicopter to the location given.
Rescuers reached the injured hiker, airlifted him onto the helicopter and provided initial medical assistance, before flying him to Tenerife South Airport where paramedics were waiting to treat him.
Upon landing, medical staff from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) assessed the man, confirmed that his injuries were of moderate severity, and transported him by ambulance to the Hospital del Sur for further treatment.
This rescue highlights the importance of preparedness and the swift response of emergency services in Tenerife’s challenging terrain.
