Uber expands its services in Tenerife with minibuses for 6 and 9 people

Uber has expanded its service in the south of Tenerife with the addition of Uber Van, for up to 6 people, and Uber Van XL, for up to 9 passengers, which are added to its existing service of Taxis and Uber Black, but will only be available between 4:00pm and 6:00pm in this first phase of the launch. 

Uber says that they intend to continue supporting the island's tourism sector, during a season in which it is expected to break visitor records, as so far 2023 tourist figures are 30% higher than those of last year, according to the latest Tourist Movement Survey by the INE.

Uber Van and Van XL, like their other services, are available from today in the municipalities of Guía de Isora, Adeje, Arona, and Granadilla de Abona, including the Tenerife South Airport, and the company will continue to monitor the success of the service to assess possible expansion to other municipalities on the island.

To use the service in Tenerife, just download the Uber app, register and indicate a payment method. Once accessed, you must indicate where you want to go, and the app will show the total price of the route. When a driver accepts your request, the app will show you the waiting time until pickup, as well as the vehicle and driver details.

The prices of Uber Van and Van XL are determined as follows:

Uber Van:
Base price: €11 low demand/ €13.80 peak hours

Minimum price: €23 low demand / €33.10 peak hours

Per minute: €0.40 low demand / €0.40 peak hours

Per kilometre: €1.90 low demand / €2.20 rush hours

Van XL:
Base price: €15

Minimum price: €59

Per minute: €1.30

Per kilometre: €7.30

You can communicate with the driver before collection via the in-app chat or call by phone completely anonymously. During the journey, the passenger can share their location and estimated time of arrival with family or friends, and if the passenger travels accompanied, they may automatically divide the price of the journey with their companions.

Once you have arrived at your destination, the journey will be completed, you will automatically receive a receipt for your journey via email.

Both users and drivers can assess each other and leave reviews, information that is very useful to guarantee the quality of the service.
