Persistent rainfall forecast across the Canary Islands has forced several municipalities in Tenerife to suspend, relocate or place their Three Kings parades under review today, with councils issuing last-minute updates as weather conditions continue to deteriorate.

Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has warned of ongoing rain across the archipelago, already being felt throughout the islands. As a result, local authorities have been forced to adapt plans for the traditional Cabalgatas de Reyes, one of the most important family events of the year.

In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the city council has decided to wait before making a final call. The councillor for festivities, Javier Caraballero, said organisers are hoping for a break in the rain to allow the parade to go ahead as planned at 7 pm, although the decision will depend on weather conditions closer to the start time.

La Laguna, which hosts one of the most important Three Kings parades in the Canary Islands, is maintaining its programme for now. The official reception for Their Majesties has already taken place at the town hall, and the parade is scheduled to begin at 6.30 pm, although organisers remain alert to any sudden changes in the weather.

In La Victoria, outdoor plans have been altered due to the rain. The reception of the Three Kings will take place indoors at the Municipal Sports Pavilion at 7 pm, where children and families will be able to deliver their letters in a sheltered setting.

Buenavista del Norte has confirmed the suspension of its parade due to the rain. Instead, the reception of the Three Kings will be held at the local church from 7 pm.

El Sauzal has also cancelled its traditional parade. Due to the weather pre-alert and adverse conditions, the municipality has opted for an alternative indoor event, with the Three Kings being received at the municipal theatre.

Granadilla de Abona has announced that, despite forecasts of light rain throughout the day, it will maintain the arrival of the Three Kings at the Church of San Antonio de Padua, followed by the parade as originally planned.

In the south of Tenerife, Arona has confirmed that its parade will go ahead at 6.30 pm, starting on Avenida Juan Carlos I and finishing at Plaza del Pescador in Los Cristianos. Adeje has also decided to proceed with its traditional Three Kings parade beginning at 7 pm from Calle Grande.

Meanwhile, La Guancha has placed its parade on standby, waiting to see how the weather turns out. The council said it is monitoring conditions minute by minute and will announce any changes or cancellations immediately through its official social media channels. What has been confirmed is that the Three Kings will receive children indoors at the Plus Ultra Sports Pavilion, with doors opening at 6 pm to protect families from the rain.

Authorities are advising residents and visitors to check official municipal channels throughout the afternoon and evening, as weather conditions may continue to affect planned celebrations at short notice.
