The Guardia Civil have been deployed to the Las Cañadas del Teide National Park today due to a ‘massive influx’ of people driving up the mountain to see the snow, and their presence will be increased over the weekend to prevent crowds from going.
In a press release this afternoon, they highlight that this situation needs to be avoided as the road conditions are dangerous (with a four-car accident on the access road through La Esperanza already today), and the volume of people and cars expected will lead to the establishment of "limitations and rules” to regulate access.
Aemet says that there will be snow on Teide for the next few days, and a tweet from the Izaña meteorological station shows that it has started snowing again!

It is recommended to follow the road markings (where visible) marked for the direction of circulation and pay attention to the signs, as well as to the weather conditions, especially in case of more snow or the appearance of ice sheets on the road.
They also advise that you check the condition of your vehicle if you are going up, especially the tyres, lights, and windscreen wipers. You should also wear reflective vests if walking on the road, and make sure your phone is fully charged, as low temperatures also contribute to the faster use of the battery.
The TF-24 access road through La Esperanza has now been closed due to increased sheet ice on the road is making it more dangerous following the accident earlier.
