The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) are forecasting heat and haze in the Canary Islands for the rest of this week from tomorrow, Tuesday July 5th. Skies will be cloudy in the mornings but are expected to clear by lunchtime, especially in Lanzarote and in the south of the more mountainous islands.
A Calima is expected in the eastern islands from tomorrow as it is heading west towards the islands from Africa, bringing suspended dust and sand particles which will be in the air for several days, moving across the islands from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, to Gran Canaria and then Tenerife and the three smaller islands.
The Calima will also bring a rise in temperature over the next few days with it being around 29°C tomorrow and going above 30°C later in the week. Winds will blow from the northeast, being more intense on the southeast and northwest slopes. In the central peaks of Tenerife, there will be a southwest wind with strong gusts in the second half of the day.
