Turismo de Tenerife wants to attract more American tourists, so are heading to New York, Chicago and Miami this week to promote the island by showing the diversity of the destination via presentations that will take place in cities in the east of the United States.
According to the Cabildo, a delegation will visit American cities accompanied by more than a dozen representatives of the tourism sector from the island.
Three different presentations will be held over the next three days starting from tomorrow, August 30th, to highlight the potential that Tenerife has as a destination for North American travellers.
Along with the Turismo de Tenerife technical team, the island's Director of Tourism, Laura Castro, and the CEO of Turismo de Tenerife, David Pérez, will make the presentations.
Castro says that promotions in the United States have intensified throughout the year with the aim of increasing the number of travellers of this nationality to the island.
“Now” she added, “we are travelling to connect professionals from the Tenerife tourism sector with the more than 150 American travel agents in the three cities we are visiting, to introduce them to the island”.
Meanwhile, Pérez highlighted that between January and July of this year, Tenerife has received more than 15,217 American tourists, which is 4,731 more (45.1%), than in the same period of 2019, prior to the pandemic.
In fact, in the whole of 2019, a total of 17,417 American tourists holidayed in Tenerife, only 1,820 more than the first seven months of this year.
