According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the Canary Islands are set to have a relatively calm week weather-wise, however, by the weekend, an Atlantic front is expected to bring some rain to the archipelago. Here is a look at the weather for this week.
In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, expect cloudy skies that will clear in the afternoon, especially in the north and west, while the rest of the islands will enjoy mostly clear skies.
Northern areas of the mountainous islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma) will have cloudy intervals, while other regions will see clear skies possibly clouding over on southern slopes in the afternoon.
There is a low probability of light, scattered, and occasional rain in the northern areas this morning and in the southern areas this afternoon.
Temperatures will remain mostly unchanged, with a slight increase in minimum temperatures in inland areas. Expect moderate northerly winds in the eastern islands and light northeasterly winds in Tenerife and the western islands.
Tomorrow will start cloudy in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, but will clear up in the afternoon. Elsewhere, there will be cloudy intervals at dawn, with clear skies on the northern and western coasts, but cloudier in the southeast and interior areas, where occasional light rain cannot be ruled out during central hours.
Temperatures will stay stable. Expect light variable winds, with moderate northeasterly winds in the eastern islands during the early morning. For both today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday), the forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures are: 19°C and between 24 and 26°C.
According to AEMET, an Atlantic low-pressure system is likely to bring cloudy skies and rain to the west and central regions of the Iberian Peninsula, which will have effects on the Canary Islands.
The tail end of this weather front will bring cloudy skies with light rain to the more mountainous islands and cloudy intervals in the more eastern ones.
By Saturday, instability due to the Atlantic low-pressure front is expected to dominate the weather, with more cloudy intervals, the possibility of light rain, and occasional showers in the Canary Islands, accompanied by light winds from the west and north.
