A serious accident on the TF-1 motorway on Saturday night, near Guía de Isora in the south of Tenerife, has resulted in six people being injured, two of them teenagers.
According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the multi-vehicle collision left two people with moderate injuries.
A 75-year-old man suffered a broken leg, while a 40-year-old man suffered a broken arm. Both were stabilised at the scene by medical personnel and were subsequently taken to the Hospital del Sur by ambulance for further treatment.
In addition, a 52-year-old man a minor head injury, and a 37-year-old woman experienced mild lumbar injuries. Two teenagers, aged 12 and 13, were also treated for mild back pain resulting from the accident.
The Guardia Civil took charge of the investigation into the accident, recording the details of the collision and coordinating traffic management to prevent further disruption, while the Fire Brigade secured the area and made sure the cars were safe to move, and assist with debris removal.
Public Appeal for Caution
Authorities have appealed to drivers to exercise caution on the TF-1, particularly during peak travel times and in conditions that may reduce visibility or increase risks on the road. The motorway is one of the busiest roads on the island and prone to congestion and accidents.
As investigations continue, local officials urge motorists to adhere to speed limits and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid similar incidents in the future.
