A British holidaymaker reported missing in the south of Tenerife, has been found to the joy of his family, who had flown over to island to search for him.
Liam Hannigan, age 34, was on holiday in Los Cristianos with friends he met on the trip after first flying out with his partner on December 29th. However, he has not been in touch with family or friends since February 7th, sparking concerns at home in Manchester.
An appeal was launched on social media and then an official missing notice was released by SOS Desaparacidos allowing the press to report it. However, his sister Ellie confirmed last night (Monday) that he had been found.
She said in a post on Facebook: "My Mum and Dad have successfully found Liam while searching for him in Tenerife this evening. He is now on his way back to safety with them, where he will receive the necessary care he needs.”
"Although Liam has been found, he still requires medical help before we can bring him back to Manchester. We are so grateful to everyone who has helped us during this incredibly difficult time.”
Rumours were rife over Liam’s disappearance, but Ellie addressed this, and his mental health, earlier in the day posting: “To address the rumours circulating on social media, we want to make it clear Liam is not out drinking or involved in any illegal activities. This isn’t about him going on a ‘bender’ or him wandering off drunk. He is unwell, and what he needs right now is medical attention and the care that will help him get back to health.”
