Only four EU countries still have entry restrictions for Covid. Spain is one of them

While most of the European Union countries have already lifted their entry rules for all travellers, there are still four that continue to require third-country nationals, which includes those coming from the UK, to meet COVID-related rules before they can come in.

The list of the EU countries that still have Coronavirus entry rules in place for third-country nationals is as follows:
- France.
- Malta.
- the Netherlands.
- Spain.

FRANCE:
Currently, France categorises all countries into two different lists, the green list and the orange list, meaning that different rules apply, depending on the country a person is travelling from. Non-EU travellers who visit France from a green-listed country, are required to show a vaccination, recovery, or test certificate upon arrival.

On the other hand, slightly stricter rules apply for third-country nationals who go to France from an orange-listed country. Those who hold a vaccination or recovery pass are not required to meet any additional rules, whereas unvaccinated and unrecovered travellers must present a negative test and an ‘essential reason’ to justify their trip to France.

MALTA:
Similarly, Malta requires all third-country travellers to hold valid Covid proof upon arrival. The government of Malta explains that all travellers need to present a vaccination, recovery, or test certificate.

When reaching Malta, the requirement to present one of these passes applies to everyone over the age of 6.

NETHERLANDS:
The Netherlands also continues to keep entry rules in place for third-country travellers. Since the Netherlands currently has an entry ban for non-EU nationals, making it the strictest country in the EU, only those who can present a valid vaccination or recovery certificate are permitted entry to the country.

SPAIN:
Despite dropping its entry rules for travellers within the EU, Spain also still requires non-EU travellers to meet certain entry rules. The Spanish Ministry of Interior explains that all third-country nationals must show a vaccination, recovery, or test certificate upon their arrival.

Nonetheless, it has been highlighted that people who do not have an EU Digital Covid Certificate, or another equivalent document, need to also fill out the Health Control Form. The NHS Covid Pass is accepted for travellers from the UK, so if using that, a locator form is not necessary.

All the other countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland – have already lifted their Covid entry restrictions for all travellers.

This means that all travellers from third countries, regardless of their country of origin, can enter the above-mentioned countries restriction-free.
