Disney has announced that they are acquiring an animated TV series inspired by the star Leo Messi called 'Messi and the Giants', developed by Atlantis Animation studios based in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The company announced that the series tells the story of Leo Messi, a 12-year-old boy with great talent, who moves his home in Argentina to a fantastical alternative universe. Leo lives in a world in ruins, at the mercy of giants, which can only be saved by a hero the size of a flea.
'Messi and the Giants' an audiovisual product by Sony Music Vision and Sony Pictures Television-Kids (SPT - Kids), will be made in Tenerife and premiere on Disney Channel before streaming globally on Disney+.
"I always dreamed of participating in a project that shared the values of sport, the same values that have been so important in my career. Nothing is really impossible with teamwork, perseverance, discipline and hard work," said Lionel Messi in a statement.
"I look forward to sharing this series with children around the world, and I hope to inspire and motivate them to achieve their own dreams. I look forward to watching this series with my own children," added the Argentine footballing legend.
