Fire and petrol are a dangerous combination. Not only is petrol highly flammable, but the fumes it emits can also ignite easily which is why it is strictly prohibited to generate any kind of spark at petrol stations to prevent accidents. Even talking on the phone while refuelling or, of course, smoking is also forbidden.

However, despite these regulations, there are people who disregard these safety measures and put their own and others' lives at risk. In this regard, images have gone viral on social media showing a man pulling out the fuel hoses at a petrol station in Telde, in Gran Canaria, and lighting a cigarette lighter.

They have already had thousands of views, and comments from incredulous citizens have been pouring in. Some of the comments include, "People are so crazy," "People engage in all these reckless actions with the confidence that there will be no legal or social repercussions, and that's why things keep getting worse. Terrible," and "People are seriously messed up."
