Man arrested after stabbing his ex-wife to death and injuring one of their children in Adeje

The Guardia Civil have reported that they arrested a 44-year-old man in the municipality of Adeje in the south of Tenerife yesterday afternoon (Sunday), after being called to a disturbance by a neighbour, and discovered that he had murdered his ex-wife by stabbing her to death.

When the police arrived at the scene on Calle Espronceda in Armeñime, they found the dead body of a 46-year-old woman, four children (two of which are theirs jointly), one of whom was injured in the incident, and the man, of Moroccan origin, holding a knife covered in blood.

The man admitted to stabbing his wife twice with the large kitchen knife, killing her almost immediately, and injuring one of his children during the attack who had tried to protect his mother and prevent his father from hurting her.

Officers immediately arrested the man who was taken into custody and charged with murder, while the children were taken into care by the social services until family members could be contacted.

This is the first act of gender violence recorded in 2023 in the Canary Islands, that has claimed the life of a woman and affected the four children for the rest of their lives.
