The Tenerife Cabildo has announced the reopening of the TF-24 road to Teide via La Esperanza, restoring full access to the National Park after workers manually removed the ice and cleared debris.
The reopening marks the full restoration of all routes leading to the park.
Teams from the Cabildo’s Roads Department have been working tirelessly over the last four days to remove snow and ice from the roads.
In addition to clearing ice, crews have also had to remove rocks that had fallen due to landslides, ensuring the roads are safe for visitors to use.
Cabildo President, Rosa Dávila, confirmed the reopening but urged caution:
"All access roads to Teide are now open, but we ask drivers to be cautious, respect road signs, and follow the instructions of the authorities. Safety remains our top priority, which is why we initially closed the routes. Now that they are open, we encourage careful driving."
Dávila also expressed gratitude to the various teams involved in the efforts, including road maintenance crews, environmental agents, security and emergency personnel, Local Police, Red Cross rescue teams, and the Guardia Civil.
Challenges Posed by Weather
Roads Councillor Dámaso Arteaga highlighted the challenges posed by low temperatures and recent precipitation, which resulted in snow, ice, and hail accumulating on the roads. "Maintenance crews have been working since Sunday to reopen these routes as quickly as possible. We call on the public to be prudent when driving on these roads," Arteaga emphasized.
With the roads now clear, visitors can once again safely enjoy access to Tenerife’s most iconic landmark.
