As we wave goodbye to April, May is set to bring scorching temperatures to the Canary Islands according to weather.com, a leading weather portal. They forecast that several islands could reach 30 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday, due to a warm air mass in the archipelago.
This weather is due to effects from the air mass entering Spain, and on Friday we'll see the arrival of high pressure and atmospheric stability in Spain, bringing sunny weather to most parts of the country.
However, cloudy skies are expected in the northwest of the Peninsula due to a front that will bring heavy rains to the west of Galicia, accompanied by strong maritime storms and intense south and southwest winds.
Temperatures will rise in the mainland and the Balearic Islands on Friday, while in the Canary Islands, they will remain largely unchanged.
Saturday and Sunday will be characterised by anticyclonic weather in most of Spain, with sunny conditions prevailing over much of the country. However, cloudy skies will persist in the northernmost regions of the Peninsula with the possibility of some light rain.
In the Canary Islands, partly cloudy intervals are expected along with the presence of trade winds. Temperatures will continue to rise, creating a warm atmosphere during the central hours of the day with maximum temperatures ranging between 28 and 30°C in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.
