A fugitive wanted by the Swiss authorities for drug trafficking has been arrested in the south of Tenerife by the National Police, after they found him living in the town of Adeje under a false identity.
The man is facing a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years in Switzerland for his alleged role in importing 50 kilograms of cocaine intended for distribution in the Swiss canton of Ticino.
The investigation began when police received information suggesting he was hiding in the Canary Islands, living under a false name and maintaining a lavish lifestyle.
He was also reportedly sharing content on social media that highlighted his violent and dangerous behaviour.
Through a series of surveillance operations, officers were able to locate the holiday home where the fugitive had been staying, but when they tried to detain him, the man tried to flee, initially by car, during which he struck and injured one of the officers. He then attempted to escape across the rooftops of nearby houses, but was ultimately apprehended.
The drug dealer is believed to be connected to a larger criminal network involved in international drug trafficking. Authorities in both Spain and Switzerland are now working together to facilitate his extradition.
