The National Police have detained four people in Arona, in the south of Tenerife, and seized approximately 200 ‘luxury’ watches, 900 leather goods, including handbags and belts, 21,500 toys and figurines, 1,300 keyrings, 259,000 game cards, and 2,886 decks of cards from reported brands.
All items are suspected to be counterfeit, with their estimated market value exceeding €1,850,000.
The investigation began following complaints from representatives of several luxury, leather goods, and toy brands, who reported the sale of suspected counterfeit products in shops in the south of Tenerife.
Specialist officers conducted investigations, identifying four premises involved in selling the counterfeit items, and carried out inspections arresting the people managing them. They also raided one location used for assembling and producing high-end counterfeit watches.
The National Police emphasise the importance of purchasing goods from legitimate retailers and caution against the risks posed by counterfeit products, which can harm both the economy and consumer safety.
They have also urged the public to report any suspicion of counterfeit product sales to assist in combating this illegal activity.
