The Atlantic storm and the calima that affected the Canary Islands yesterday, have caused several different weather types in the Islands with rain, high winds, thunder storms, and haze, but now snow can be added to that as seen on Mount Teide when the clouds cleared this morning revealing her in all her glory.
Temperatures were notably lower in Tenerife last night compared to previous days, which has caused a light layer of snow on Teide, although no frosts were detected in the Izaña area.
Today, the islands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are on a yellow weather warning for haze and strong winds, which for the calima is in force until 9pm tonight affecting visibility. The north of Tenerife is at risk for strong winds also, according to Aemet.
The yellow warning for strong winds in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and the north of Tenerife, will be in force until later this afternoon, with maximum gusts of between 70 and 80 km/h expected, mainly affecting high areas and north and west coasts.
Aemet forecasts that a light haze will return tomorrow (Wednesday) to all the islands and an increase in maximum temperatures will be seen.
