Emergency landing for TUI flight in the Canary Islands due to a cracked window

TUI Airways flight number TOM217 which took off from Cape Verde to Manchester yesterday afternoon (Monday), was urgently diverted to land in the Canary Islands due to a broken window in the cockpit.

As reported by Air Traffic Controllers on their official Twitter profile at 6:30pm, the path was cleared for them to make the quickest and safest descent and approach to runway 03L at the Gran Canaria airport as possible.

Airport Emergency Services were on alert waiting for the Boeing 767 to land, which it did without incident. Unfortunately, passengers were delayed whilst another plane was made available, but TUI reported that no one was injured in the incident and that safety comes first.
