Granadilla de Abona’s own strongman, known as "El Vikingo de Tenerife," continues his impressive run in Spain’s premier strongman competition, the Liga Nacional de Fuerza.
The 42-year-old British powerhouse, whose real name is Matthew Riddall, secured 3rd place in the latest event, marking yet another podium finish in what has become a remarkable career of consistency and domination in the sport.
The competition, fiercely contested, included five gruelling events that tested strength, endurance, and technique. The athletes tackled challenges such as truck pulling, a 405 kg yoke carry, a monster dumbbell press, a Hercules hold, and a 300kg frame carry.
El Vikingo once again showed his might, maintaining his reputation as one of Spain’s top strongmen.
Coming off a 6th-place finish in both the European Championships in August and an international tournament in Iceland, El Vikingo is not only carrying the flag for Tenerife but also representing the entire Canary Islands in the global strength sports scene.
With the upcoming World Finals in December, for which he has qualified for the second year in a row, he’s poised to continue his streak of strong performances.
