A man armed with a knife has robbed a 24-hour supermarket in Puerto de Santiago, a popular tourist area in the south-west of Tenerife.

The robbery took place yesterday (Sunday) in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. The suspect allegedly threatened members of staff before stealing around €900 in cash from the till.

He also took a mobile phone before fleeing the area. No injuries have been reported.

Police are examining CCTV footage and gathering witness statements from people in the surrounding commercial area as they work to identify and find the suspect.
