Air traffic control strikes are continuing throughout March in the Canary Islands

The trade unions have announced that the air traffic controllers' strike is going to continue throughout March due to the lack of progress in the negotiations with the APCTA business association, for improved working conditions.

It is important to remember that this is only for staff at control towers that have been privatised, and affects the following airports:
Fuerteventura
Lanzarote
La Palma
El Hierro
Ibiza
Valencia
Alicante-Elche
Seville
Coruña
Castellón,
 Cuatro Vientos
Jerez
Lleida
Murcia
Sabadell
and Vigo.

The dates the strikes will take place have been confirmed as March 7th, 14th, 21st, and 29th, therefore all flights whose arrival or departure is on these dates, to or from the above airports could be affected.

The strikes, which have already been taking place in January and February, have only seen delays in international flights and cancellations on inter-island and domestic flights. So, if you are travelling from the UK you may be slightly delayed but shouldn’t have your flight cancelled. As always, please check with your airline is flying on those dates.
