ALDI will open its first stores in Tenerife and Gran Canaria on July 13th

ALDI has confirmed that it will open its first four stores in Tenerife and Gran Canaria on July 13th, two on each island in La Laguna and Arafo in Tenerife and Las Palmas and Telde in Gran Canaria. Following this, they will open three more in Tenerife during the summer, which includes new stores in Adeje and Las Chafiras.

All of the new establishments will feature around 330 items sourced in the Canary Islands, including fresh produce, dairy products, drinks, frozen foods, and cosmetics, among others, from more than 40 Canarian producers. In total, ALDI claim that almost 20% of products for sale in the Canary Islands will be locally sourced.

According to the Managing Director of ALDI in the Canary Islands, Carmen Toubes, ALDI’s stores in the archipelago will be setting new standards in the sector with larger parking spaces than the competition and energy efficiency systems, such as solar panels and charging points for electric cars.

In Tenerife, the La Laguna store will be located in Los Rodeos and will be visible from the airport, while the Arafo store will be located in the Güimar Valley, and the opening of another three stores is planned for August.

So far, with the logistics centre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, ALDI has created more than 240 jobs in the region, including office staff, store workers, and logistics personnel, with more to follow.
