Supermarket chain ALDI has announced price reductions on more than 450 products across its stores in the Canary Islands during the first six months of 2025. The initiative includes key staples such as dairy, bakery items, personal hygiene products, and nearly 70 locally sourced goods, offering further support to Canarian families navigating rising living costs.
ALDI’s pricing strategy is built around offering high-quality own-brand products at discounted rates. According to company data, 9 out of 10 purchases made at ALDI include at least one own-label item.
These products form the backbone of the chain’s savings model and are one of the main reasons customers can save an average of €1,000 per year, according to figures from Worldpanel by Numerator.
Support for Local Producers
In addition to nationwide savings, ALDI has applied price reductions to around 70 regional products, underlining its continued support for local suppliers.
The company currently works with over 50 Canarian producers, and has increased purchases from these partners by more than 35% over the past three years.
In the last 12 months alone, ALDI has bought over 214,000 tonnes of Canarian food products, and now offers around 220 references of locally sourced items in its stores.
Growing Presence in the Islands
Since launching in the Canary Islands in July 2022, ALDI has expanded to 16 stores with more than 300 employees across the islands. Its focus on affordability and quality has already earned the trust of the local population: nearly 4 in 10 Canarian households have shopped at ALDI.
The company reports that its customers can save approximately €20 per week, amounting to around €1,000 annually, by making ALDI their regular grocery destination.
Aldi’s steady growth and price-cutting measures come as welcome news for consumers across the Canary Islands, many of whom are seeking ways to reduce household expenses without sacrificing quality. With more local products and ongoing investment in the region, ALDI is aiming to solidify its place as a go-to supermarket for residents across the archipelago.
