22-year-old taken to hospital after street fight in Tenerife

A 22-year-old man has been taken to hospital after being injured during a fight in Tenerife. The incident happened last night (Saturday) in Calle Zafiro in Santa Cruz and resulted in both the Policía Nacional and Policía Local being called to the scene.
According to information released by the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES 112), the emergency services received an alert at 9:15pm reporting that a fight was taking place in the street.
After assessing the call, the emergency coordination centre activated the appropriate medical and police resources.
The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) sent a basic life-support ambulance to Calle Zafiro, where paramedics treated the 22-year-old man.
He was assessed as having injuries of a moderate nature and, following initial treatment at the scene, was transferred by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria for further medical attention.
Officers from both the Policía Local and Policía Nacional attended the incident.
Police subsequently began the relevant enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fight.
Police are investigating what happened
At present, authorities have not released further information explaining what caused the confrontation or how many people were involved.
There has also been no official confirmation of any arrests arising from the incident.
The nature of the injuries sustained by the 22-year-old has not been specified beyond the initial SUC assessment that they were moderate.
