Tomás Gimeno was born in Tenerife into a wealthy and well-known family that owns many farmlands, banana plantations across the island and Los Palos Golf Course in Guaza in the south of Tenerife. The 37-year-old was in charge of several companies belonging to the family.
However, his relationship with those closest to him was not always as good as it should have been. Gimeno also had a reputation as a ‘bad boy’ throughout the island, with an exacerbated taste for nightlife and drink and drugs, and was involved in several fights in bars and clubs in the north and south of Tenerife.
He was also accused of several robberies during his teens and twenties, despite coming from an affluent family and being in a strong economic position himself.
At one point he was involved in an insurance scam trying to collect false claims for vehicles and boats. To this are added several traffic fines, which, until now, have not been given more importance.
Very little is known about Tomas Gimeno's parents as they are very private people who have avoided any contact with the media. What is known is that the separation from his ex-partner Beatriz last year, Anna and Olivia’s mother, was very complicated because of constant accusations that Tomás was violent towards her, including beating up her new partner in a car park at the end of last year, but she never reported anything officially to the authorities.
Despite all this, none of the family, friends, and work colleagues interviewed by investigators expected this macabre outcome. In fact, his close friends describe him as "energetic, impulsive, hard-working and a bit of a hippie," who liked to play padel tennis, loved his boat, wanted to be a rally driver, and adored his kids.
It is already known that Tomas couldn’t handle splitting from Beatriz, and was raging with jealousy that she already had a new partner, a 60-year-old Belgian businessman, and psycho-analysts believe this is the catalyst for his actions. He saw them getting back together, she saw a future of happiness with her daughters with her new partner, so Tomas planned the ultimate revenge crime using his daughters at the centre of his plan.
