A bar in Playa de Las Americas is going viral among Spanish users on Twitter today, after an angry resident of the north posted a video of people dancing outside the venue that had live music on inside, despite innumerable warnings from the authorities for people to avoid this behaviour.

A Twitter user posted: “I am staying in Las Americas this weekend to REST since I work here (including weekends) and I live an hour away by car. Almost an hour ago everything should be closed. There is a place giving a LIVE CONCERT and many people inside and outside.”

According to the authorities, this type of scene is still too common on an island that aspires to lower the number of infections as quickly as possible, especially as venues have only just been allowed to re-open interiors in Level 3 as long as regulations are adhered to, and they promise an increased police presence, fines and closures for those businesses that don’t comply.

Under current restrictions, venues are allowed to close at midnight, but clients are to remain seated and dancing is not allowed.

The IA14 in the Canary Islands has more than doubled in the last month from 66.96 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on June 5th, to 141.27 cases registered yesterday, July 3rd, with Tenerife’s IA14 currently at 240.79.

The irony of the post is that many people in the south are blaming the north for the current situation, even though Granadilla, Arona, and Adeje are now high risk areas.
