In the first ten days of applications being open, 10,326 small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) and self-employed people have requested the direct aid launched by the Canary Islands Government. In total, there is 84 million euros available with which they intend to alleviate some of the damages to the sectors most affected by the economic crisis derived from the restrictions of the pandemic.
According to the data managed by the Ministry of Economy and Employment, almost 80% (7,819) of the applications have been submitted in Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Almost half of all the claims presented correspond to Tenerife, reaching 4,547, while in Gran Canaria there have been 3,272 applications so far.
