Canary Islands has the most state direct aid with 1.14 billion euros

The Canary Islands is receiving more from the state fund of direct aid of 7 billion euros than any other region of Spain with a total of 1,14 billion euros as it is the hardest hit in the tourism sector during the pandemic. The next closest is Andalusia whose area includes the Costa Del Sol with 1.1 billion, and Catalonia (Barcelona) with 993 million, which means that these three autonomous communities will receive 46.38% of the total aid between them.

This has been published this morning in the Official State Gazette (BOE) through a ministerial order that explains the criteria for the distribution of funds, and details that it has been done through a first allocated amount of 5 billion euros, from which all the autonomies except the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands are paid, and a second allocation of 2 billion, for the archipelagos. The payments are due to the autonomous communities within 15 days of publication, so by April 10th 2021.
