The Canary Islands have registered 185 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of accumulated cases in the islands to 59,947 with 2,553 active, of which 27 are admitted to ICU, 195 remain hospitalized, and 2,331 are in home isolation, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health.
They have also confirmed the death of two people in Tenerife, meaning that the total number of deaths on the islands has now risen to 786 since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 437 have been in Tenerife; 275 in Gran Canaria; 49 in Lanzarote; 13 in Fuerteventura; 7 on La Palma; 4 in El Hierro, and 1 in La Gomera.
The Accumulated Incidence rate over 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 56.34 and the IA14 is 103.27 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. To date, a total of 1,198,536 PCR tests have been carried out on the islands, of which 2,913 correspond to the last 24 hours.
By islands, Tenerife adds 139 new infections, 75% of todays total, followed by Gran Canaria with 26, Fuerteventura with 14, Lanzarote adds 5 new cases, there’s 1 in La Gomera, and none in La Palma or El Hierro.
In fact, the Ministry also announced that El Hierro is the first island to reach 70% of the target population vaccinated against Covid with at least one dose, and are on target to achieve herd immunity in mid-July.
