A jewellery shop was robbed in broad daylight in Tenerife on Sunday, with the four suspects caught on video reportedly fleeing the scene on two motorbikes.

The robbery took place at around 4:00pm on Avenida de Punta Larga, in the coastal area of Candelaria, causing tense moments for people who were nearby at the time.

The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation and a search operation is underway to identify and locate those responsible.

According to initial reports, four people are believed to have been involved in the robbery, and part of their escape was captured on video by a witness.

The footage reportedly shows two suspects rushing out of the jewellery shop before climbing onto two motorbikes being ridden by two accomplices. The four then fled through the streets of Candelaria.

The Guardia Civil is examining footage recorded by witnesses as well as CCTV cameras in the Punta Larga area in an attempt to identify the suspects and establish the route taken by the two motorbikes after the robbery.

Investigators are continuing their enquiries and, at the time of the latest information, no arrests have been reported.

Authorities have also not yet confirmed the value of the jewellery or other items allegedly stolen during the raid.

The investigation remains ongoing.
