A teenager has been arrested after a young man suffered serious injuries in a stabbing at a rural property in Ingenio, in south-east Gran Canaria.

The attack happened during a gathering on the night of 6th August. The victim suffered several wounds, including a serious five-centimetre injury to his neck that required stitches.

Emergency services treated and stabilised the young man before taking him to hospital for specialist care.

Police officers inspected the property, questioned witnesses and collected evidence to establish what had happened.

The teenage suspect was found hiding nearby shortly after the attack, preventing him from leaving the area.

Officers also searched nearby land and recovered two bladed weapons: a fixed-blade knife and an assisted-opening folding knife. Both have been retained as evidence.

Investigators said statements from the victim and eyewitnesses, together with medical reports and evidence from the incident, helped them reconstruct the incident.

The case has now been referred to the Las Palmas Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation documents, witness statements, medical reports and seized weapons have also been submitted.
