Saturday’s data from the Ministry of Health still shows a high number of new cases in Tenerife, which had 133 (79%) of the 167 in all of the islands. This compares with Gran Caria where 19 were detected, 8 in Lanzarote, 7 in Fuerteventura, 1 in La Palma, 1 in La Gomera, and none in El Hierro. They also reported that no Covid related deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours.
These new infections against just 67 medical discharges, mean that active cases in the islands have risen to 1,967 of which 182 are in hospital wards, 23 are in ICU, and 1,762 are in home isolation. Active cases have increased to 1,398 in Tenerife, which is 71% of the total number of infections, and today the number of cases has increased in Santa Cruz, La Laguna, Granadilla, Arona Adeje, and San Miguel de Abona, highlighting the fact that it is not just concentrated in the capital as in other islands.
The IA7 for the islands has increased again to 46.92 and IA14 has gone up to 88.38 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Tenerife and Lanzarote are currently the only two islands in alert Level 2, but the difference in their data is massive. The IA7 in Tenerife is now 80.12 compared to 28.88 in Lanzarote, and the IA14’s are 139.89 and 75.73 respectively.
