Here is the latest update from the Ministry of Health as the Incidence rates for the Islands continue to increase, and the IA7 is now at 42.65 and the IA14 is at 77.53 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Tenerife continues to be the problem with almost 70% of new cases today and almost three times more than Gran Canaria, the island with the second highest number of new cases.
Active cases have also gone up again as discharges are still low, because although not as many people are hospitalised, it is taking longer for the ‘younger population’ (under 60) to recover from the virus.
La Gomera has seen an increase in cases following an outbreak in a football team on the island, and this is the 4th week in a row with zero cases and zero deaths amongst residents in nursing homes and residential centres following full vaccination.
