Covid update: Canaries has passed the fifth wave as levels return to the same as June

The start of September sees a continuation of the downward trend in the epidemiological data, as the Canary Islands passes the fifth wave and incidence rates and risk level return the same as they were in June, but this time with more people protected by vaccines. Today, 156 new cases and one death have been reported, of a 70-year-old woman in Tenerife.

The Ministry of Health has also reported 141 new coronavirus outbreaks in the last week, of which 74 have occurred in Gran Canaria, 48 in Tenerife, 9 in Lanzarote, 8 in Fuerteventura, 1 in La Palma, and 1 in El Hierro.

65 of these are family outbreaks, 43 from social interaction, 19 in work environments, 6 in socially vulnerable groups, 3 healthcare related, 1 sport and 1 in a prison.

After several months of intense activity, and having administered more than 45.000 doses, today concludes vaccination at the Southern Hospital of Tenerife at Mojon. Starting tomorrow, anyone who had an appointment for vaccination at this point will be vaccinated at the Tenerife Magma. Everyone has already been informed by SMS.
