The Canary Islands are emerging as the Spanish destination that will lead the growth in tourist arrivals in 2021, since all forecasts indicate that the start of the summer season will be delayed until at least July. In September and October there may be a tourist boom that will favour the archipelago, since its busiest time for tourists begin on those dates.
The delay in vaccination in the EU is delaying the date on which the mass-arrival of European tourists to Spanish destinations is expected, and hoteliers are predicting a realistic date between August to September, when 70% vaccination and herd immunity are achieved in continent, which the AstraZeneca fiasco is also threatening.
