The crisis cabinet of the Adeje City Council, chaired by the mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, has decided today (Friday) to reinforce the municipal action plan in order to apply the measures decreed by the regional government with the closure of beaches and parks from 8pm. The new level 3 measures will take effect from midnight on Saturday night and the objective of these actions is to stop the spread of Covid infections on the island, it must be taken into account that today, Adeje has active cases in the municipality.
These measures are in addition to those that were taken a week ago due to the increase in infections in the municipality, specifically, the decision to keep all public activities dependent on the city council suspended or postponed. In addition, the reinforcement of the presence of the Local Police will be maintained, as well as the citizen awareness campaign through the social media channels of the Council.
The council has activated a special operation to be able to limit and close the parks, playgrounds, squares, and sports spaces open to the public, and recreational areas that do not have their own fencing so that they can be closed from 8pm every day.
The greatest effort will be made on the beaches where reinforcements of municipal operating personnel will be activated, not only to be able to close them at eight o'clock each evening, but to monitor, as before, the capacity, distancing and the rest of the mandatory security measures.
An information service will also be activated through cars with loudspeakers, recalling the sanitary regulations and the closure of the beaches decreed by the level of sanitary emergency. To carry out these works, there will be the reinforcement of a crew of almost 30 people who will operate throughout the coastline, notifying locals and tourists of the mandatory safety regulations.
Regarding security forces, they have also been reinforced for this weekend, increasing the police staff both at night and during the day. The objective is to try to avoid the breach of the norms and the concentrations of people not allowed, for example in botellons. In this sense, special operations will be carried out, in coordination with the National Police and the Guardia Civil, in the public spaces and areas where these unauthorized meetings usually take place.
The Adeje City Council once again calls on the individual responsibility of citizens and businesses, as well as the people who visit Adeje in these days of summer. Special precaution and sensitivity are requested from young people and vaccinated people, remembering that the fact of having received the vaccine does not mean that a person cannot transmit the virus.
Please remember, the use of the mask is still recommended in open spaces and, of course, indoors, where it is mandatory. In addition, the need to maintain social distancing, constant hand washing and compliance with the permitted group size is essential.
The Adeje City Council maintains permanent contact with the island and regional authorities to learn first-hand and assess future measures to tackle the spread of Covid-19.
