Warm sunny weather is forecast in the days leading up to New Year's Eve

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) is forecasting good weather for the rest of the year in the Canary Islands, with intervals of high clouds and temperatures slightly increasing, especially in the interior areas of mountainous islands from today, Thursday.

The wind will be light to moderate from the east, with a tendency to become light and variable in direction in the afternoon, and coastal areas will experience breezes.

At sea, eastward winds of force 3 or 4 are expected, increasing temporarily to 5 on the southern coasts of the islands. There will be a moderate to rough sea with a northerly or northwesterly swell, producing waves of one to two metres high.

Today’s forecast for each island:

Tenerife:

Intervals of high clouds. Temperatures are unchanged on coasts but rising in inland areas, and a moderate increase in minimum temperatures at summits. Moderate east winds will become light and variable in the afternoon with prevailing breezes on the coasts.
High temperatures of 26°C and lows of 16°C.

Lanzarote:

Clear with intervals of high clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain mostly unchanged, with a slight decrease in minimums. East winds will be light to moderate, slightly stronger on the west coast.
High temperatures of 23°C and lows of 15°C.

Fuerteventura:

Clear with intervals of high clouds during the afternoon. Temperatures will remain mostly unchanged, with a slight drop in minimums. Easterly winds will be light to moderate, and more intense on the west coast during the morning.
High temperatures of 22°C and lows of 15°C.

Gran Canaria:

Clear during the morning with intervals of high clouds for the rest of the day. Minimum temperatures are unchanged, and maximum temperatures will rise slightly especially in high-altitude areas. Moderate east winds will become light and variable in the afternoon with prevailing breezes on the coasts.
High temperatures of 24°C and lows of 16°C.
