The haze will be more intense this Friday in the south and east of the Islands

In a weather update from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for today, Friday is forecasted to witness an intensification of the calima in the archipelago, particularly affecting the southern and eastern regions of the islands.

At sea, the southwest and northeast coasts will experience winds of force 4 to 6, causing rough seas. In other areas, winds will be variable at force 2 to 4, resulting in moderately rough seas.

A swell from the north or northwest measuring 1 to 2 metres is expected, with the main impact of the calima occurring along the southeast coast.

Friday’s weather forecast for all of the islands:

Lanzarote:

Clear skies with a haze, especially during the central hours of the day. Temperatures are expected to remain stable or experience a slight increase. Moderate to strong winds, primarily from the east, with a southeast dominance in the first half of the day. There is an active weather warning in force for very strong gusts inland and in the west of the island.
Temperatures: high of 22°C and low of 15°C

Fuerteventura:

Similar to Lanzarote with mainly clear skies with haze, diminishing later in the day. Temperature changes are expected to be minimal. Moderate to strong winds, mainly from the east, with southeast dominance in the first half of the day. A warning is in effect for locally very strong gusts inland and in the west of the island.
Temperatures: high of 22°C and low of 17°C

Gran Canaria:

Partly cloudy skies with a significant presence of calima, especially on the south and east slopes of the island, triggering a yellow weather warning. Temperatures are forecasted to remain stable or experience a slight increase in the north. Moderate east winds along the coasts, occasionally strong on the north and south coasts, with the possibility of locally very strong gusts on the west and south slopes, as well as on mountain peaks mainly in the morning, also prompting a warning.
Temperatures: high of 23°C and low of 19°C

Tenerife:

Partly cloudy skies with calima, particularly intense in the south and east of the island, leading to a yellow weather warning. Temperatures are expected to remain stable or slightly increase, especially in the northeast. Moderate to strong east winds along the coasts, with strong southeast winds inland and in high-altitude areas. A warning is in effect for very strong gusts in central peaks and the northern, easing by the end of the day. Locally very strong gusts are not ruled out on the southwest slope, in the first half of the day.
