In Tenerife, the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria witnessed the birth of their first baby of the year on the island. At 7:10am, a bouncing baby boy entered the world, weighing a robust 3.5 kilograms (7lb7oz) through a natural birth.
While these hospitals were filled with the joyous cries of newborns, other public hospitals across the Canary Islands were still awaiting their first arrivals of 2024.
