The Canary Islands welcome the first babies of 2024!

The anticipation and joy of the New Year were magnified as the first births of 2024 in the Canary Islands were celebrated with much enthusiasm. The spotlight shines on the Hospital Universitario Materno Infantil de Canarias in Gran Canaria, where the first new arrival occurred at 2:26am on January 1st.

A healthy baby girl, weighing 1.85 kilograms (4lb1oz), entered the world through a natural birth, marking the beginning of a promising year for her and her family.

However, the celebrations didn't stop there, as the second birth of 2024 within the SCS-registered hospitals occurred at 3:15am. This time, a healthy baby boy, weighing an impressive 3,440 grams (7lb6oz), added to the growing excitement of the New Year.

The vibrant atmosphere continued to ripple across the archipelago as other hospitals joined the festivities.

In Tenerife, the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria witnessed the birth of their first baby of the year on the island. At 7:10am, a bouncing baby boy entered the world, weighing a robust 3.5 kilograms (7lb7oz) through a natural birth.

While these hospitals were filled with the joyous cries of newborns, other public hospitals across the Canary Islands were still awaiting their first arrivals of 2024. The islands are buzzing with the promise of new beginnings, and families are cherishing the memorable start to the year with the arrival of these precious bundles of joy.
